AS STORM PREPERATION BEGINS, MEMBERS ALSO PRIORITIZE TRAINING EVOLUTIONS
Yesterday, between calls for service, members ensured front line and reserve apparatus are prepared for the impending snow. Firefighters at headquarters also conducted ground ladder training. Nice initiate everyone! Group 4 was on duty.

FIRE ON BENJAMIN ROAD CONTROLLED QUICKLY AFTER IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION AND A RAPID RESPONSE
Just after 3pm on Sunday firefighters were dispatched to a house fire on Benjamin Road. An aggressive interior attack following quick notification and a fast response brought the fire under control quickly. There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters. We appreciate our mutual aid partners from Cambridge, Watertown, and PRO EMS who responded to the incidents and covered the Town stations while we were operating at the fire. Group 2 was on duty.

THREE MEMBERS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE PROBATIONARY PERIOD
Firefighter Forester, Firefighter O’Neil, and Firefighter Keenan all finish their probationary period in February. All three members turned in their orange probationary helmet fronts for new helmet fronts reflecting their current assignments on Engine 1 or Rescue 1. The firefighters are assigned to groups 2, 1, and 3 respectively. A round of applause for the firefighters and officers who mentored and continue to work with these members along the way! Job well done.

BADGE PINNING CEREMONY FOR TWO NEW MEMBERS
At the selectboard meeting on Monday evening there was a badge pinning ceremony for two new members. Both members graduated the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in January or 2026. Firefighter Downing and Firefighter McGillivary are assigned to Group 4 and Group 3 respectively.

FFOP O’CONNELL ADMINISTERED THE OATH OF OFFICE
On Monday morning Ellen O’Brien Cushman, Town Clerk, administered the oath of office to Firefighter on Probation (FFOP) O’Connell. Currently FFOP O’Connell is assigned to the Training Division prior to attending the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Welcome to the best job in the world!
